Today’s World Water Day. Today’s a day I want to advocate and share about some of the real, desperate issues surrounding something so simple, and so important: water.
Here’s some important facts:
- Every 15 seconds, a child dies from a water related disease. (These are preventable.) That’s 1.4 million children every year DYING because of lack of access to safe drinking water and sanitation.
- Lack of clean water kills more people than guns, wars, hurricanes, floods, tsunamis and earthquakes combined. 98% of these water-related deaths occur in the developing world.
“When a billion people in the world already live in chronic hunger, and 780 million people still lack access to safe water, the problem touches the community at home, too. The travesty is a silent crisis borne on the backs of the poor and tolerated by those with the resources and power to end it.” – Mission Network News
